Must-Dos for Two in the Greenbrier Valley

Love and reconnection are part of the Greenbrier Valley story. It’s where you can focus on each other and indulge in the magic of the setting—share in new discoveries, find cozy nooks for two, and take the time for quiet moments together. We call it the #GBVEffect.

There are endless ways to experience the #GBVEffect together, but we have a few must-dos we think you'll love.

Check-in and bliss out. You've heard of or maybe even had a couple's massage before. But at Pomona Salt Cave & Spa, that's just the beginning of the many therapeutic, relaxing experiences you can have together. Take it from Adriana & Marius Grecu—co-founders of Pomona and married for more than 23 years.

"It's a spa inside of a salt cave! It's built into the side of a mountain and is the only one like it. This special environment gave birth to the idea of a holistic spa, so from the moment you pull into the parking lot to the moment you leave, everything is intentionally chosen and geared toward creating your ultimate experience." -Adriana & Marius Grecu

The most popular couples' package at the spa is Mountain Memories, which includes three hours of pampering.

Dinner and a show, anyone? It's the quintessential date night, and here it's all walkable. After dining at one of downtown Lewisburg's local gems, take in a lively performance at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre. Or catch a show at Carnegie Hall. There isn't a bad seat in the house in these intimate spaces.

The apple of your eye. Sample some hard apple cider and get a taste of Appalachian heritage. Hawk Knob Cidery, West Virginia's first, serves up unfiltered ciders crafted from locally grown apples. Find a spot on the patio overlooking the country landscape, enjoying live music or close conversation. It's the #GBVEffect firsthand.

A bicycle ride built for two. On the Greenbrier River Trail, ride side-by-side and soak in the breathtaking West Virginia mountains and meandering Greenbrier River. The local bike shop, Hammer Cycles, rents e-bikes and can set your shuttle—a great way to see more of the trail.

For love birds, falconry is the art of flying trained birds of prey. Take a lesson with Greenbrier Outfitters to see falcons and hawks in a close setting. Learn the history of the sport, and experience a falcon at work as she pursues her prey.

Feel your connection with the natural world as a bird of prey rests on your gloved hand.

The road less traveled. Days exploring new territory are meant to be shared, and these ancient hills set the stage for together time with breathtaking panoramic views, rolling landscapes and romantic tree-lined tunnels. Skip across the swinging bridge at Anthony Creek. Discover “lions” in downtown Alderson. Peruse the grounds of The Greenbrier resort and dine in downtown Lewisburg, nationally recognized for its culinary prowess. Choose your adventure from three backcountry driving tours—as long as one of you has the map!

Raise your spirits. Go on a whiskey tour with the folks at Smooth Ambler, West Virginia's award-winning distillery. Their Founders' Cask Strength Series is 100% made with local talent, utilizing local resources and matured right here. Whether you two are whiskey newbies, bonafide fans, or straight-up connoisseurs, you're sure to taste something smooth. Cheers!
