Circa 1904, this traditional, Victorian home was built for an owner of the lumber and planing mill operating at the time. Not only was the downtown residence an eye-catching display of the mill’s prosperity, but it served as a “showroom” for the fine quality of red oak and other hardwoods available in these West Virginia mountains.

It’s no accident the home is located within a short walk of the Alderson Railroad Depot. Rail travel was the primary form of transportation, and would-be salesmen need only cross the street to see the mill’s lumber on grand display.

Fortunately, many of the fixtures, trim and other details have been preserved over the generations. The inn’s current furnishings and special touches were tirelessly collected from attics, estate and garage sales and through the creative repurposing of found wares and chattel.

The Greenbrier sweet is on the first floor, while the second floor features three additional rooms, each with a private bath.

As part of each stay, guests are treated with a full, hot breakfast served in the breakfast room. The adjacent dining room is available for catered luncheons and dinner events.
