Lewisburg, WV – The Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) is celebrating National Tourism Week by hosting the third annual “Best of the Greenbrier Valley Awards Reception” on Thursday, May 7 at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center from 5:30-7:30 pm.
Taking place May 2 through 10, National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual distinction by Congress to show the positive effect that tourism has on the economy. The Greenbrier Valley is one of the most visited regions in the state welcoming over one million guests each year. Direct spending by tourists adds $2.44 million to the local economy, saving every household in the county $1,367 in taxes annually.
At the reception, the winners of the “Best of the Greenbrier Valley” will be announced. Individuals who have demonstrated outstanding hospitality and eagerness to work with the CVB will also be recognized. One such person is Congressman Nick Joe Rahall, who is being honored for his support of the tourism industry during his 3-plus decades in office.
The “Best of the Greenbrier Valley Awards Reception” honors all of the businesses that are connected to tourism. Kristi Godby, Media Relations Manager for the CVB noted, “We are lucky to have such a beautiful and inviting area which is enriched by the attractions of our tourism industry partners.”
