CVB Mini Grant Deadline Set for January 6
Lewisburg, WV (December 5, 2013) - The Greenbrier County Convention & Visitors Bureau announces a deadline of Monday, January 6, 2014, to receive applications for the Cooperative Advertising Grant Program. For those needing assistance with the completion of their applications, a workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 10:00am at the CVB Office located at 200 West Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg.
The Mini Grant Program is an excellent source of marketing dollars for groups promoting tourism-related events and activities within Greenbrier County. Since the program's inception in July 2002, the CVB has provided more than $325,000 toward the marketing efforts of a variety of events and attractions including the Alderson Quilters and Crafters' Greenbrier County Quilt Retreat, Freshwater Folk Festival, White Sulphur Springs Dandelion Festival and Taste of Our Towns Festival.
The Friends of the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery have been applying for grant funds since 2006. "One of the bonuses of applying for funds," said Larry Davis, president of the group, "is the advice that you receive from the review committee. It helps us get the most out of our efforts to attract as many people as possible to our entertaining and educational event."
Funding is available in the form of mini grants to groups (two or more businesses), organizations and nonprofits operating in Greenbrier County. Requests can be made up to $2,000 per event and must be used to reach people outside of a 50-mile radius.
Applications for the CVB's mini grants are reviewed by the organization's Marketing Committee twice each year, in January and July.
