Greenbrier Valley Visitors' Center to Highlight Artist, John Telisko

January 30, 2015

The Art in the Valley exhibit will open at February’s First Fridays after Five featuring the oil paintings of John Telisko.

Lewisburg, WV – The Greenbrier County Convention & Visitors Bureau (GCCVB) is proud to announce that oil paintings from local artist, John Telisko, will be displayed in the Art in the Valley exhibit for February. Originally from Kanawha County, the ten year-old John was taught drawing and painting by a neighboring artist, writer and historian. Always an outdoorsman, John draws great inspiration from nature.  He has won numerous art show awards throughout the years.  After working 40 years in the coal and railroad industry, he retired in 2006. John and his wife Brenda live near Lewisburg.

The Visitors Center began the Art in the Valley project as a way to provide local artists with an exhibition space. Each month the Visitors Center showcases a different artist or collections of artists. Art in the Valley is free and open to the public.

The opening Mr. Telisko’s Art in the Valley will be Feb. 6th during February’s First Fridays after Five in downtown Lewisburg. Strum Sum Band will provide musical entertainment and children can decorate a valentine for the “Fill the Shelter with Love” campaign sponsored by The Greenbrier Humane Society.
