Lewisburg, WV – Capture the rhythm and vibe of Appalachian Music at Greenbrier County’s ‘Meet the Mountain Music Trail’ event on Thursday, October 22. Sponsored by the Greenbrier County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the evening includes a premier of a short film about the West Virginia Mountain Music Trail and a live performance by Black King Coal.
The Mountain Music Trail stretches along the 200-mile, Route 219 corridor and includes the counties of Monroe, Greenbrier, Randolph, Tucker and Pocahontas. It connects venues, festivals, musicians, radio stations and others devoted to preserving West Virginia’s musical heritage. By sharing a cultural experience with visitors and residents alike, the Mountain Music Trail supports cultural tourism and sustainable economic development in the region.
This summer Wild, Wonderful West Virginia, in collaboration with Mountain Stage and the West Virginia Public Broadcasting team took to the road to capture the essence of the trail, producing a series of mini-documentaries that showcase some of the venues and musicians that reside there.
"This partnership with Wild, Wonderful West Virginia allowed us the opportunity to meet the people who make up these colorful communities all along the Mountain Music Trail,” Associate Producer of Mountain Stage, Vasilia Scouras, said. “We are honored and excited to help showcase the cultural traditions and musical landscape that make this mountainous 200-mile heritage trail one of a kind and unique to West Virginia."
The free-for-all event will be held at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg with doors openings at 6:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served with craft beer provided by the Greenbrier Valley Brewing Company courtesy of their local distributor, the American Beer Company.
Monroe County will host their own event to share the Mountain Music Trail video premier on October 21 at 6:30 pm at Ames Clair Hall in Union. In addition, to the film, the evening will feature a performance by The Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys.
The Greenbrier County CVB and Travel Monroe are excited to partner with Wild, Wonderful West Virginia and other counties in preserving and showcasing West Virginia’s mountain heritage and invite everyone to attend the lively events.
